Rockaway Recycling Safety First!

safety at a scrap yardHey scrappers! I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July weekend more than JPP (Jean Pierre-Paul)…

It’s been a while since my last blog post and since then the prices of copper have been in the dumper!  Make sure you guys get it out before it’s too late!

So let’s talk some safety today. I have been to many other yards and I can personally tell you that the Rock has your safety in mind more than most. When you come into our yard you will notice certain things done for you. A couple examples being the dumping hoppers facing away from you as you are loading them so in the case that they fall it’s not on you.

We have CLEARLY marked signs to tell you where you can and cannot go along with yellow lines on the ground that can only be passed by employees wearing the proper safety gear. Beyond that yellow line is heavy forklift traffic usually carrying thousands of pounds of material and it’s just better for you to stay on the other side of it.

As for our customer areas (scales ATM parking lot) you will notice that it is always clean and always organized, nothing to trip over and we make sure there are never any nails in the parking lot.

Stay safe scrappers!
