Why Scrap Metal Prices Change

Why Do Scrap Prices Change?

Great question isn’t it? One that annoys and excites us at the same time. We get people asking us all of the time why our prices change, and if we can hold the prices for them for a while.

We wish that we could hold them, but the prices move when the market moves and the last few years that is very often. When they move a penny or two, we can hold them, but the last few years copper prices swing anywhere from $0.05 to $0.15 in ONE DAY. When you have crazy fluctuations like that it is difficult to hold prices for more then a few days….

…but that is why we update them online everyday. With our mobile website and our online pricing, we try to make it as easy as possible for our customers to see why the scrap metal prices are changing, and how they can make sure to cash in.

The markets for stocks change daily, and commodities like oil, corn, milk, and copper do as well. That is why you always have to check out our site to get the latest prices.

We try to send out emails 2-3 times a month to give our customers an idea on what is going on with the prices, but it is not always easy to guess before you come down to our yard.
