What is the point of scrapping?

Posted: November 20, 2013

For some people scrapping is just another part of their day, for others it means money, food, shelter, a life. But for the people who don’t scrap as a full time job, why do they continue? There are many reasons for someone to begin and continue scrapping their metal materials.

The first and most obvious reason to scrap metal materials is the environmental factor. More than 130 million tons of material is recycled every year into raw materials for manufacturers to use to make new products. Recycling saves us from more mining and usage of natural resources. Using recycled products also reduces the amount of energy used to create new product.

Second, it creates jobs. The scrap industry alone supplies more than 137,000 people with jobs throughout the United States. From the owners of small family owned businesses to big scrap metal traders, these jobs would not exist without customers.

Third, MONEY. You make money and who wouldn’t want that? From a couple dollars to a couple thousands of dollars, scrapping metal is totally worth the effort.

There are many things you can do to make even more money from your scrap such as separating your metals. Check out our YouTube page if your looking for ways to make the most from your scrap metal. We create videos for out customers so they can get the most out of their scrap.

As the quote goes, one man’s trash is another mans (or woman’s!) treasure.
