The Ides of March- Scrap Style

Posted: March 15, 2013

Good Morning Scrap Metal Nation!

With today being March 15th, aka “The Ides of March,” we wanted to pay homage to our brethren of the olden Roman days of Julius Caesar. As many people read the play in high school, many might have seen it acted out on stage or in the movies, the Ides of March was the day that Caesar was assassinated…but we choose to focus on scrap metal.

The Romans were some of the first to have a more complex method of coins, and back then, coins were literally worth their weight in gold (or copper, brass, silver, even bronze.).

Nowadays with the Gold Standard long gone, and US Currency backing itself up (little scary….ah!), it is nice to see the throwback coins and how far that we have come over the last few thousand years.
